Making an idol out of truth-telling

I must at all times pray against my tendency to assume power in a relationship by giving an answer for everything – even if my answers are right! If truth is told in a spirit which seeks to assume power, then it will always sound like a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal (1 Corinthians 13 v 1). I have often made an idol out of truth-telling and, in the meantime, forget to love.
